Here at Smallville Learning Center we fully understand the importance of your child’s Pre – K year. It not only provides a great foundation for kindergarten but also exposes children to an educational environment. In addition, Pre–K gives children a chance to develop and grow while also learning skills needed to be successful for the rest of their lives.
One of the goals of our pre-K program is to teach our students to learn to be learners, how to be curious about how things work and find answers to problems.
We provide hands-on experiences and opportunities to learn about things that apply to their lives as well as engaging students in rich conversations in which their teachers will ask them open-ended questions, what they think and what they want to know.
Another goal of our program is to help students develop awareness and skills in areas like self-control and behavior in the class i.e. how to wait your turn, how to share, how to deal with frustration and how to solve conflicts.
Our Pre-K program is designed to focus on the following learning areas
- Communicating with others – We teach children to improve important language skills.
- Building Brain Power – We prepare child to reason and analyze.
- Making New Friends – We provide opportunities for children to practice social and emotional skills.
- Nurturing Creativity – We encourage children to think and create.

Every day in our pre-kindergarten program children participate in:
- Whole-group instruction twice a day
- Small-group activities that provide skill-based learning in math and literacy
- Child-directed play in learning centers
- Large motor time
- Music and movement
- STEM Time
